Here's how it works:

• Read Part 1 of "The Shades of Pemberley" in issue 8 of Farmerphile (April 2007) and identify as many "Easter egg" references as possible.
• Do the same when Part 2 comes out in issue 9 of Farmerphile (July 2007) and then send in one consolidated entry for Parts 1 and 2.
• Send contest entries to Win Scott Eckert by the September 15, 2007.
• The top three entries that identify the most correct references, as selected by Win Scott Eckert, will win the prizes listed above for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
• After the contest is completed and winners are selected, a complete legend with all the references will be posted on this page.
• ALSO, all of the references and the winners will be listed in issue #10 of Farmerphile.

"The Shades of Pemberley" is seeped in Philip José Farmer's Wold Newton lore and mythos, so dig deep. To get you started, here are two answers, one "easy" and one more difficult and obscure:

• Easy:       The country of Hidalgo is from the Doc Savage series of pulp novels by Lester Dent ("Kenneth Robeson")
• Obscure:   Holdernesse Hall, from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes story, "The Adventure of the Priory School" = Pemberley House from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, according to Phil (Tarzan Alive)
